Fished it yesterday. Most of the shore is open so I had to walk around to find a place to get on. The ice was 2-3 inches. Not really safe but there were other people out so I felt a little more comfortable. Caught a ton of trout, perch, and blue gills on little tungsten jigs tips with a wax worm. The ice should thicken up next week with the cold weather moving in.

My update hasn't posted quite yet, I fished all day yesterday. Access to the ice is a tad sketchy but there is a few good spots to get on the ice. Once on the ice it is 3.5-5" just about everywhere I went. Good solid clear ice and should just be getting better this week. Obviously still need to exercise caution but it is definitely fishable if you take care and watch the shallow areas. I fished from the cove right at the entrance rd down to the cove on the other end and also near the middle of the lake on a couple humps. Saw many groups near the dam as well but didn't make it over that way myself.

it was 2 degrees when I went out this morning... high is only going to be 20 today.. gonna drop down to at least 4 degrees tonight. Have sneaky suspicion you'll be fine tomorrow. But always think safety.. ice people tell me spud bars are a good thing.
Was out from about 9 til noon. The ice around the shore is still pretty sketchy but once you're on it's a good 6 inches if not more. Caught about 5 trout and 7 bluegills. Nothing of any size but it was nice to be on the hard water and get a good pole dance. Lots of people on the ice today and from the sounds of it almost everyone was catching.
Huntfishman- I stopped out there on my lunch break. I didnít have anything to measure, but there were at least 20 people scattered across the lake. I was told (take it with a grain) that the ice was ~8Ē.
Just left monument Ice was good and solid even though it was 60 degrees. shorelines are getting a little soft but the main lake had 6-8 inches on it. Dont think the shoreline can take many more days like today though. people were all over the lake.
I was out on monument last Saturday with the family and just fished by the dam. I saw others reported about the conditions so I did not post. There was about 5 inches of clear ice then and it was 60 degrees. So is there still good solid ice? I saw the report on the 8th saying 7 in. Has anyone fished the last couple of day and have an update? Thanks in advance.

As of 9:30 am today there is about 3 or 4 inches of wet sludge over about 6 inches of decent ice. Edges are sketchy and will get worse as the day progresses. There are presently about 20 people on the ice.
8"+ in most areas as of last Saturday (26th). West end had a couple inches of rotten ice on top, but there was still plenty of good ice underneath. Caught 15 or so stockers between 5 of us, which was considerably slower than a couple weeks ago. Still a fun day of fishing, though!
Monument has the hill to the west, so it doesn't get a lot of afternoon sun. That is why it tends to have such a good thick ice most years, plus being just shy of 7000 feet. The report from 2/10 said 9" of ice. If there is still 5" or more on Chatfield, my guess would be Monument is still solid.
I was at Monument this morning. There is still 8-9 inches, once you get on the main ice. But that is the trick, most shoreline around most of the lake is either open for 10 feet or floating icebergs. You will probably get your feet wet. Without some colder weather to refreeze the shoreline, the could be the last weekend. Use caution because there are some areas starting to open up as well, like near the spillway and beaver dam hut.
