Seaman Ice situation.

K I know it is early for Ice but my kids and I are headed that way in two weeks and plan to portage our canoe into the lake to camp for fourth rifle and some fishing. I plan to monitor weather close between now and then, but If anyone makes the hike in and see noticeable ice formation than would prevent launching of the canoe I would greatly appreciate a heads up so I can adjust my plan. Our drive to Gateway Park is just under six hours.

From my experience with Seaman res, which is limited, it usually takes a decent amount of time to get that thing to freeze, or very consistent cold temps, which we really havent had in the front range yet this year. Keep an eye on the weather for any cold snaps, but i would guess youd be ok to launch(dont hold me to this, just trying to get you a general idea)

No ice as of 11-3-18. Also no camping allowed and a new sign on the highway stating no overnight parking.

cool thanks guys. Randog was planning to camp on the forest at the back of the lake, and the ranger I spoke with said that the over night parking was prohibited at the pull out right out side the gate but the pull out just east was still acceptable. So I guess my question to you is was that sign at gateway entrance or the other one. thanks

That's interesting randog, sign looks brand new. I second the question... where did they locate the sign? It looks it might be on the path up the last incline on way up to the left of the dam. I recall the ranger mentioning a couple years ago something about the powers-that-be clarifying recreation rules beyond the Gateway Park area. I suppose this is it...

Rules Sign was put up last year. It is located at the base of the dam. Purple is the STL that is the no camping area. No over night parking sign is west of the entrance at the highway. Hopfuly this helped and clarifies it a bit more.
