Tough Winds at Williams Fork

Traveled to the other side of the State to fish Williams Fork Reservoir. What a beautiful lake, and lots of shots being fired from the numerous hunters. Anyway, the lake was kind enough to give me a few hours in the bellyboat before winds got dicey and had to retreat. Bite was slow but managed a few small lakers for the family tonite. Had a chance to chat with Jon Ewert, the CPW fisheries bio and he and crew were busy with Kokanee work. Overall LOTS of casts for a few fish but enjoyed the visit to a new lake.

That's Williams fork. Sounds like you had a great time. Not too after you see any one floating it. Congrats on your catches..

Yes they have a high wind warning posted and I took that seriously. I am also careful to make sure the gentle winds will blow me to shore. And that worked well until the wind shifted....then I had to do a hard flipper back to shore. Was a fun time tho!

Any Kokanee snagging there at this time? I'm traveling up the Steamboat Springs this weekend for the kid's hockey tournament, thinking about stopping by the Williams to do some snagging with the kid.

I am not sure. I did not venture out to the buoy line. But they were running in the river which is off limits.

I was at the south shore on the 26th, hooked only one salmon and it was summer silver, nothing else moving in that area

Went there on 10/28, no sign of any Kokanee but caught a young laker near the campground on the northeast side.
