My friend Chet and I hit the River today a few days after they recently dropped the flows to 315 cfs! It didn’t hamper the bite much at all! After catching several fish I caught an 18” Brown (last pic) on a Dynamic J-Spec Fire Craw! Then we found a good stretch and caught several 15”-16” Browns. Then just to the right of Chet a big beautiful spawn colored Brown jumped! After a couple casts Chet moved over to where it jumped then pitched out his small X-Rap and that big beautiful spawner a 19” chunk slammed it! We then moved around a bend and I pitched my Perch patterned Rapala Countdown! I jerked it down then started a slow crank and a 20” Male nailed in mid current! I ended up landing 39 and Chet caught a little over 40! Neither one of us caught any Bows.
I log them every five fish or so! That way I can see how productive one lure is over another for that day and conditions. Also keeping track of each species and what sizes I’m getting on each of the patterns! Like I get more Bows on a slow crank especially towards dusk! Usually an aggressive jerk works better on the Browns unless they’re in a negative mode,! Also helps keep the mind fresh for my old age! Lol! I also have a Large Measure Net that measures fish up to 28” which helps me get the sizes and gets the fish back in the water quicker!
