Yep, I never thought it would happen to me but tonight it did.. I giant Carp or some fish with some pull yanked my rod right over a boulder into the lake.. Iím sure itís at the bottom somewhere but if you happen to see my rig itís an Abu Garcia with a Ugly stick rod.. lined with braid... I know itís a long shot.. I literally had just lost a nice one so I baited up and tossed it back out and where I was it was rocky with no option to place holder. I turned my head and zip heard the drag. I jumped over the boulder and it shot even further out of reach into the abyss...

I've only ever lost one rod into the water, and that was fishing Clear Creek, I slipped and fell on a boulder and when I put my hands out the rod fell out of my hand into the river. I haven't caught any fish big enough to pull a rod in.... :)
Bummer catman82. I fish Union a lot and have pulled up several rods and reels while trolling in the boat, all were pretty worthless reels but the rods cleaned up nicely. Ill keep a look out for you though...ÖÖ.Jon

I got one drug in at Sloans when I was a kid and my fishing partner put a big daredevil on and drug the bottom and got my pole back. He also reeled in the carp on the pole too. One thing that sucked is we bet $1 for 1st, most, and biggest and he took me for $3.
I had one go down a icehole and I caught the line with another rod the rod came back through the hole it was epic. Reeled in a 18 inch laker and my friend and I had a good laugh. Recently had one pull one in that was in a metal pipe rod holder, casted for about 5 min and caught the guide reeled it in and caught a 22.5 inch laker on it. Fishing is crazy, if you really fish weird things can and will happen. Tight lines and keep them on!

My son caught a rod/reel at CC when we fished with Austin Parr. The rod was broke but the reel still worked albiet beat up and dirty. I cleaned it up and lubed and respooled it and he happy to use his catch.

About the end of july I actually jumped in after my pole lol off the union dock yep it happens to the best of us I guess..... but the worst thing is when I jumped in without thinking I had my phone in my pocket 😂 it wasn't funny then but now every time I think about it I laugh.... Things can be truly unbelievable while fishing 🎣 🎣
