"The lake is scheduled to be opened sometime this summer but a firm date has not been set yet. They are still filling it so it won’t open until it is filled. The DOW has stocked small bluegill in it about a month ago. The intent is to start a food base for the bass that will be introduced next year. I think it will be a couple of years before there are any catchable sized fish in the lake."

More from Dave - "I forgot to add the part about the restrictions. Yes, the restrictions will be the same as before. Flies and lures only. It will be warm water species such as bass and maybe some catfish."

One note from me, Dave who is the link for this lakes' contact, responded promptly and answered all my questions!

Is this lake just north of the treatment plant, that had all the mounds of dirt.

Why did they drain it?

City of Thornton wanted to make water storage improvements to the lake. Something to do with the lake on the other side of the road as well, which is why they diverted the road for a while earlier.

the primary purpose of the closure was to construct the slurry wall between the lake and the south platte river. They also added innerconnect pipelines between it and ESP and Cooley Reservoir.

Bryan, are any of the other connected bodies of water fishable? East Sprat, Cooley or North/South Dahlia reservoirs?

Ass - Not to my knowledge, only West Spratt-Platte, Elaine T Valente north of 104th and 2 of the 3 Thornton Gravel Ponds at 88th and Colorado are the fishable lakes in this area.
