Just heard from Nate Zelinski and this years Don't Bash the Trash tournements are locked in at Johnson Res. and Thornton Gravel Ponds West Gravel Lakes. You can start registering on Tightline Outdoors website July first. If you haven't done these tourneys they are a blast and great prizes!

My dad and I are planning on going to the one at Johnson. I've caught a couple nice ones out of there so I'm hoping for the bettet luck this year in the tournament than in years past.

Bron,
How does the video thing work. I've never fished a tournament.
Could you shed some light?
Reply by: bron      Posted: Jul. 5, 7:27:34 AM     Points: 23364
Thats new to me this year. Sounds like they are handing out the measuring troughs they always use and having us record our catches this year. In the past they had the Carpgirls stationed around the lake to verify catches. The venues this year cover more area so they probably had to change that. I can ask Nate.
Reply by: bron      Posted: Jul. 5, 8:16:07 AM     Points: 23364
Nate says Im correct and he will put a video on his site showing the new measuring technique to clarify.

The price went up a little but the cash prizes are way better too. Only 1st had a cash payout previously. Im good with this format. If you dont have a smart phone anyone there will be happy to help out. this is the finest group of fishermen you could spend a day with.

Anyone else signed up?
Reply by: Slay them with AVET      Posted: Jul. 18, 11:45:51 PM     Points: 3
Bron,
I was gonna sign up, but the $80 bucks - plus the $7 fee (total $87) was too steep for me. Maybe I'll fish next years if they still have it.
Reply by: bron      Posted: Jul. 19, 5:53:42 AM     Points: 23364
It went up from $50 this year, but in the past unless you took first place the prizes weren't as good as they are now. The payouts for 2nd thru 6th are much improved.

Thankfully, my work schedule cleared up for Saturday 28th's TLO event, my registration is IN, and I will be there, with a mug of #victorycoffee in the event I actually catch a fish. Look forwards to seeing some familiar faces at the tournament and hopefully some new !

Tight-Lines!

Hey Bron,
So how many inches was the longest Carp?
Reply by: bron      Posted: Jul. 28, 6:01:12 PM     Points: 23364
The longest carp today was 28". There were 69 fish caught by about 20 anglers. Big congrats to Carpitup for taking first and a big victory coffee for John for taking third. I had the first and biggest at the net this morning and it spit the hook out. We never got another bite today. Ill try to get some pics up shortly.

Had a great time today! This was the first time my dad and I actually caught fish in one of these tournaments. Even though we didn't place it was still a blast. Great to see a lot of familiar faces out there!

Nate and his team put on a great tournament today, thanks for all your hard work. Met a lot of great guys today and had a blast.

My buddy James landed the biggest of the event with a 28.5", followed by a 28" and i had a lowly 27.5" as my best. Spot James and I fished certainly had some larger carp, alas not the #s to battle both Carpitup and Bob, who had a haul fest of catches and lost fish. I fought well until noon, after which bite died on my spot. Still loads of fun !

Best event to date by far with many anglers putting fish on the board. The new video self reporting of catches worked well, albeit having a parter to help video sure helped. Reminder: bring extra pwr for your phone!

The venue is certainly packed with carp, give it a few more seasons and some 30"+ fish will.certainly be there to be caught.

John

Bron, you were hiding in those bushes, under the trees, like a pair of ninja's in full camo !

Hey Bron, likewise. John says you were in camos under some trees like a ninja? Talk about serious Carp fisherman. Might be the new thing in the future, fishing in Camos with ninja like Carp skills.

Cheers

I've gone fishing with them and tried there camo rituals, as soon as I left with my camo pants and a skunk they started catching fish.
