Post By: C-DOG      Posted: 4/18/2018 5:51:51 PM     Points: 234
Hey guys and gals, Hope all is well.

I recently had A issue with cpw.

I have always been told to contact the cpw, if you had a
interaction with a skunk during the day time -and daytime hours.

Well I got the run-round.

In a nut-shell- All of a sudden my dogs started going nuts outside,
all is ok some one was just waking by all is good.

When i went outside the STENCH was horrible.
It was clear what happened. (3:15PM)

They told me they are not responsible for this-call the Health Department.
The Colorado Health people said to call CPW.
What is your thoughts?
Sorry not necessarily fish related!

I asked the lady at the health place--
Are you going to be responsible for the
vet bills?

she blatantly said no.

You'll get no relief from CPW. Best handle it yourself.

There was a thread on this very topic on here 8 or 9 months ago. You might try the search function at the top of the forum page to find it.

Im not clear on the question. Your dog got into it with a skunk and you want someone to pay for the bill?

Repels-All . . . .Animal repellent,by Shot Gun.My neighbor is a pest control guy and he applys this stuff . . . .works on Skunks,cats,racoons,deer,and other pest.
You can buy it already mixed up in a spray bottle or in a bulk container of powder and mix it with water. Its people and pet safe.
BTW . . . .whoever told you to contact CPW over a daytime contact with a Skunk, don't know what they are talking about.Skunk's are nocturnal . . .to a point, but do get around during the day.

Most skunks you see in the daytime are rabid. I guess we’re having an issue with them down here in the springs. CPW won’t do much. I believe we’re supposed to call animal control. A pest remover would probably be the quickest to take care of it though. Btw. Have you ever seen a skunk swim?

I know if your dog gets sprayed by the skunk to wash him down with the 'Equate' brand mouthwash found at Walmart

If dogs get mixed up with a skunk that's your responsibility. What would make you think CPW, or any state authority, would pay for that?

That's like saying the CPW should pay for a new tree in my yard because deer ate all the leaves off of it and killed it.
