Fishing License

Post By: not too old to fish      Posted: 3/13/2018 11:43:02 AM     Points: 3936
Don't forget to renew your fishing license this month !!

Good luck with that!
Just went online to get mine. Verified my account since the system is new. The system found me so I though all was good. Went to click on annual fishing license and then select residency "resident" then Resident Since Month and Year "MMYYYY". I enter in my month and year I was born since I have been a Colorado resident for 47 years and I get the following error. "The residency could not be validated as the "CO Driver's License / ID" # does not match our records. Please contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife for more information, or visit the FAQ knowledge center article on requirements for purchasing a resident license below:"
They have my 2016 and 2017 Annual fishing license, 2nd Rod Stamp and habitat stamp viewable on the new site but they can't validate my residency?
I renewed my driver's license Feb of 2017 and purchased last year's license with it so that shouldn't be the issue.
"If your Colorado State Driver License or Colorado State Identification Card was issued or renewed less than six months prior to purchase/application, you must provide additional documentation that proves that you have been a resident for the required six months. Owning property in the state of Colorado does not in itself establish residency. You must provide at least two of three sources of documentation from this list."

Get it together CPW. You can't manage crap!

You got farther than i did! I was on the site last night and figured i'd go ahead and order the fishing license early since it showed up quickly in the mail last year. Got verified and all then couldn't find the fishing licenses. Realized they aren't available for sale yet (3-15) and that was that!

I logged in with my girlfriend's account and could get past the residency validation but there were no fishing licenses links available(Only Hunting Licenses) so I figured they weren't available yet but when they are available I won't be able to get past the residency validation. I hope I don't get hassled when I go to get one in person.

Why don't you just go to a place that sell's them and be done with it ?

The 2018 season licenses aren't available yet, and the new system (which is FAR better than the old one by the way!) had a few kinks to work out. All you have to do is call CPW and get your account straightened out...

I ran into trouble when I was applying for my big game tags.

Most people that are having trouble are also in Reserve America's system because they made campground reservations.

I was going to go into a CPW office to get it straightened out, but I had also contacted CPW via email, and they fixed it without me going in.

I will tell you, once I got the log-in worked out, I thought the system worked much better than in the past.

Everything has room for improvement. This one is no different. But I think some people are just old codgers, and need something to complain about. Hopefully those folks will get out and due some fishing (or something else) to help improve their attitude.

Is it Spring yet?

As an agent for selling licenses I also encountered troubles with resident status on 2 licenses this afternoon. Had to call DPW to get it fixed. They have glitches. Hope to have them fixed soon.

Was on the website today and didnít have any problems.

When registering make sure to use your cid# from your current license.

Then select the licensing menu and fishing. Note Iím not doing a game tag this year

From there select your annual and extra rod stamp. Select continue

Enter payment info. Agree to terms and select continue.

Was done and had my TAN emailed to me in 5 minutes from my phone.

It seems to be working smoothly as of now.

Had to call CPW about the error when validating my residency. Still didn't work after the 15th when fishing licenses became available.
Was on hold for about 15 minutes and had to email a copy of my driver's license to CPW. They put an override into my account which allowed me to get past the residency validation.

team FMFO. How do you know I wouldn't have had the same issue going to an agent to get my license. I am sure it is the same database. I have bought my license online for years and that is what I prefer. If it is an option then it should be available and should be functional. Place your 2 cents else where.

Same thing with Me this morn at DICK'S...
Got on the CPW helpline for an answer....
Was told I'd need to go to a CPW office IN PERSON with 2 forms of "proof of residency"
SO... went to the C-470 and Sante Fe office...
No problemo.... The Gals said its a "BIG GLITCH" that CPW is working on...

Reply by: Bubba02STi      Posted: Mar. 17, 10:52:58 PM     Points: 401
Kev. I thought we were comparing times. And I care. I care that we all get our licenses in a manner that we see fit for ourselves. I did mine online cause I just wanted to get it done and out of the way. Oddly enough I was checked for current liscense later that day at Palmer lake. Lol itís great to see that people are getting theirs quickly though. I remember a couple years ago there was an issue with the systems that delayed getting them.
