Lake: Taylor Park Reservoir

Any News on Taylor

Post By: johnski      Posted: 2/5/2018 8:22:16 AM     Points: 3796
Just wondering if anyone fished this lake this past weekend. What are the ice conditions, access etc. How was the bite. Ice is rapidly deteriorating in the lower elevation lakes of the San Luis Valley and wondered how Taylor is looking. Thanks.

Yes hope to get up there this coming week sometime. I feel like I have been short changed by this strangely warm winter we have had. Never even got to fish Blue.

Fished Taylor on Sunday, Ice was over 20" out in the middle in front of the store. Not exact measurement but did put a 26" rod down the hole and it hit the end of the ice at about the handle. Got there about 10 and fished till 1 had several hits and lost three half way up... they just spit the jig...

Do you know how deep you were and if the fish were suspended or on the bottom. Greatly appreciate the update. Any Slush?

Got a fresh few inches of snow in the valley this morning, both big blue and taylor will be fishing good, with safe ice this weekend. Cheers to everyone that gets to soak it up! May be the last weekend or two.

Fished the weekend. Ice anywhere 14 to 20. Slushy and wet on top Friday. Snow on Sat and 19 below temps helped firm things up. Bite slow.

Don't drive down to marina. Hill is heavily rutted and snow is deeper than appears. Had 8 to 10 inches snow on Sat making it hard to fish without a snowmobile
