Any updates on the ice at Crawford? Much appreciated!

Well people are fishing it. I don't know how far out the ice goes but it freezes by the dam area first. I plan a trip there this weekend and will report back. I might get a wild hair and go check it out tomorrow. Will let you know.

Called and the Dam area is what they said was being fished. Makes since because it freezes first. I asked if people are able to walk from the Peninsula to the dam and they said no.

Rifle has about 5" on ice so Crawford should be similar.

I drove down by the dam a couple days ago and people have been fishing out in front of the dam. I did not go down but will likely go in the next few days. The whole lake was iced over, but I did not see signs that anyone had been out on the ice except near the dam. It is too bad that the State Park folks are so remiss in posting information on Crawford, I am sure they are way too busy sitting in the office picking their noses to go to the website and update the park info.

So I went today and stayed close to the dam area. 9.6- 52 FOW. Went fishing Crawford today. Caught 2 Trout and one Whale. Don't laugh at my Perch it took about 20 tries to get him and you will be happy to know he is still swimming so one day he will grow up to be someones bait 5-6" of Ice and very warm with a lite breeze. If it does this every day the ice is going to be gone. Very talkative ice today to say the least. Cracking as I walked. Don't be calling me chubby now.

What is the ice like with the warmer weather the past week plus? Was thinking about taking the family out but concerned the ice may not be safe? Any updates?

Not sure. It rained a lot here all night and you know what that does to ice. I am 15 miles from there and i would guess it rained there also. Yesterday though the ice was fine with 6" plus. I am not speaking for the whole lake only the dam area where I fished.

Had another great day on Crawford today. 17 Crappie, 1 Trout,1 Perch and 1 Pike. 23.5" Pike. A lot of 9.5- 9.75" Crappie. Ice is grey but seems solid. It does have the ring around the collar as the edges are softer. 6" still today. 2.5 Hours of working 2 holes and then caught 2 fish out of a third hole.

Anyone know how the ice faired through the rain

Thanks lefty, for the update I think we pushed submit at the same time. Nice to see the crappies are getting some size to them. Is that ring by the dam big enough to need a board. I was going to bring my five year old with me this afternoon. As long as she can make the hop

Yes the ring is everywhere. It is very steep by the dam if you haven't been down there. Don't know if your little girl can handle that. A 4 foot boards will work fine.

Ice is great at 5 to 8 inches.

Great afternoon, minus one guy mis judged the edge and got a little wet. But my daughter and I managed a good haul on perch crappie and trout. And group next us seemed to be having same experience. Also pleasantly surprised with the condition of the ice.

Nice going guys, guess Crawford will have to wait until spring for me.

Come on SGM, with a good rest it is possible you'll be out and about in a week or 2. Hoping that is.

Thanks lefty, I hope to be out of the hospital in a week. Docs already told me no ice fishing or undue exposure to cold air. This has ruined my whole ice year.

Sorry to hear that SGM. Get well soon.

It might take 4-6 weeks to get back to full strength. Been there, done that. Not a pleasant thing to have to go through.

Guess I shouldn't tell you that Jerry was putting a hurt on the crappie today. Them and the slimmers! And using my holes to boot!!
