Lake: Seaman Reservoir

Thin Ice: needs another week or two

Post By: Parachute Adams      Posted: 12/26/2017 1:56:50 PM     Points: 515
Took the family up for a nice hike on Christmas day and thought we'd pull a few out of the ice. No dice. Ice at the dam area is 2" and lots of open water still. Ice halfway up in the shade on the west side is a maximum of 2" and more like 1". We'll need some colder weather and a couple of weeks before I go back.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thanks for the update, PA. Good call on holding off at this point.

I've turned your post into a lake report and credited you.

So does this mean that the bridge is open again after repairs ?

Yup, the bridge is open and you can walk back to the lake without getting in the water. I was out there on the 26th and the ice was still thin, I did fish it but ice was only about 3 inches at the thickest and fishing was slow and there were still open spots. I would wait until it freezes solid and then try it.

Can anyone tell me does Seaman have perch in it?

Yes Seaman has a large population of perch with an average size of 8-9 in length. Lake also has a bunch of healthy suckers and a few trout. Wax worms will get your first ones and then use perch eyes on your favorite lure. Hike will get your heart pumping, especially if you go to the north end of the lake. Not for the weak......

Did anyone lose a small container of spoons? I found one on the lake today down in the ice a bit. There were about a dozen or more spoons in it.
