Lake: Mount Elbert Forebay

Talk to me about Forebay...

Post By: yard dogs      Posted: 12/11/2017 3:21:15 PM     Points: 746
Headed to a birthday party this weekend in Buena Vista and my brother wants to go hit up Forebay. He would like to learn how to jig for browns and lakers since I tease him all the time with pics from Blue. He is pretty green, so I would like to get on some fish and I have no idea about this place. I will do my research this week, but thought I would "fish" for some tips...

Side question. Is it possible to launch a non motorized boat at the forebay this time of year? Anyone know?

We were able to at twin lakes, but this time we do not have a boat we can carry down to the water.

Thanks for the help.

Even after looking at the heading a couple times my mind still didn't go to forebay it went someplace else. Guess I am a dirty old man lol.

ColoradoPike,

Both Twin Lakes and Forebay are wide open and no ice, so yes.

Due to the water level fluctuating, ice can form on the rocks at 4bay and make for a very dangerous decent. Be careful.

The ramp at twin was closed so we had to carry the boat down. Is that the case at Forebay?

We have a drift boat on a trailer and we’re thinking about launching it

You have to hand launch anything at Forebay, no ramps
