Lake: Arvada Reservoir

Fishing Arvada reservoir advice?

Post By: Wagz      Posted: 6/1/2017 10:27:05 PM     Points: 0
This summer I recently decided to start fishing at Arvada Reservoir because it's a close lake to where I live. I know it is stocked with a lot of rainbow, but what is some advice for fishing here? Color baits, lures, etc. I know the dock is what I hears is a good place to fish, is this true or is there a better place to fish in this lake from the shore? Thank you.

Wagz- My experience at Arvada Reservior for targeting trout is that as the water begins to warm you need to find deeper water when fishing from shore. Deepest water from shore is to the west of the boat ramp on the south shoreline. I think the key to success is using an egg sinker to a swivel and then a leader of no more than 4 pound test that is 18 - 24". My preference is orange or pink power bait. Lures seem to be more successful early morning and later evenings. I have had more success with red/white daredevils and blue/silver or green/silver kastmasters. Best of Luck.

Do you think a gold or silver panther Martin spinner would have luck? Is it mostly trout that people catch there, or is there anything else that's popular there?

Mostly trout. But there are some small mouth and catfish. Also some perch( but they always very small).

I've always boat fished the lake. Trollling between the boat ramp and the inlet usually produces for me.
