Favorite fish to catch....

Post By: dizzel      Posted: 5/12/2017 11:09:48 PM     Points: 23488
What is your favorite species to target in Colorado, though I would like to catch wiper all day and night long, they are a harder fish to target because they move a lot, so I love to target the Kentucky Bass or AKA spotted bass, I can usually find these guys from February through November at the local reservoir I fish, one of my favorite ways I catch them is with an ultra-lite rigged with a finesse worm or a curly tail grub and 16/0 oz to 1/8 oz jig head bouncing the edge/shelf or drop shot with a wacky rigged worm, vigorous and strong fighters but still a very pretty fish to catch.

This was from tonight, caught on a white curly tail.

What is your favorite fish to catch and what method do you use?

My favorite species to target here in Colorado is brook trout. I use spinners, small jerkbaits, and flies (beetles, hoppers, ants) on the fly-n-bubble.

Brook trout- the official trout of the Denver Broncos.

Mine would have to be smallmouth bass for the fight and techniques.

My number one fish I fish for and enjoy are tiger Muskie.
and big brookies and pike hands down.

I honestly get pretty board targeting bass and walleyes. Other then smallies in chessman that can be a addicting puzzle piece to figure out.

The brook trout is one one the hardest fighting fish, when you can find them over 15 inches
That's a beautiful brookie above did you get a replica of it?

My fave so far would have to be Mr or Mrs Smallmouth, preferably on a topwater.

Lakers. Hate the 3 hour drive but have become addicted chasing Lakers on the Kayak

Love Walleye and Smallies too

MA cat fish. I've only caught two this season so far but that will change as time goes on.

I think big brown trout and smallmouth are tied for favorite fish to catch. I love to feel a big brown smash a streamer and I usually throw leech patterns if I'm fly fishing or a ned rig if I'm not fly fishing for the smallmouth.

Trout with Bass and Pike a close second.

I gotta say that it's a tie between lakers and small mouth.

If the fish can't drag my pole in, break it, or hurt me....why go after it?

Im with bron. I love pike or musky on light tackle (bass/trout gear), but topwater bass with plastic frogs are also a blast.

Maybe walleye but everything else is great though too so that's a really tough question. The reason I picked walleye is because to consistently get them you need to adapt and have various fishing methods and knowledge about them. A lot of people say walleye is the best meat, I think they are good but pike, white bass, perch, crappie, and wiper are at least as good when cooked fresh imo.

MY favorite is the one currently on the end of my line. Agree with Toadfish, if it swims I like to catch it.

I agree with the above - that whatever is on the end of my line I'm more than happy with, but lakers are my drug....

Like 'em all. Take pride in diversity, to date 2017, brook, brown, rainbow, yellow perch, walleye, white bass, wiper, walleye, white and black crappie, common carp (and mirror variation), bluegill, green sunfish, pumpkin seed, smallmouth and largemouth bass, creek chub, and gizzard shad. The seasons just getting rolling.

I like to catch they all. Got a say catching carp out of the river is quite entertaining too.
