It's that magical time of the year, waters up a few degrees and the carp should be ready to play.
Time to Carpe Carpy! Going out tomorrow with some heavy equipment to play with the golden submarines. I might manage a few other species too, you just never know there. I could use a good walk though, so Jackson and I have a date with a cold soda and a comfy chair involved. Weather looks favorable, and the W looks to be down in the "cooling breeze" range. We'll see how shes fishing this year!!
Only carp today was foul hooked....sadly. Got it right behind the dorsal fin with a big swim bait.
Wipers are biting good though.
Before you go rushing out there, they're about 9 inches too short to keep! Worm on the bottom, couldn't sit for more than 5 minutes without a bite. Went through a full dozen in about 3 hours. Only landed 4 though. All undersized. (nothing bigger than about 6 inches!)
Still a lovely morning at the lake. I'd still be there if I hadn't run out of worms. Oh well, beats the heck out of NOT fishing at all!
Headed out in the morning with my son. Should be a pretty nice time. Hopefully the fish will cooperate. The crazy weather lately has got me a little worried, but that lake always tries to make me happy.
Guy beside us was pulling good sized drum and keeper wipers on Crayfish tails. We got a small wiper and a decent drum on worms. Pretty slow catching though, considering the numbers of bites we were getting. Cool, wet and windy. Water still tea green but sitting at 61 degrees at the bank. Fish were biting, but persistence and patience was key. You tried to set it quick and you'd miss them, you had to let them take it. My son got both ours, I blanked missed a good one though, he about took the rod and I still couldn't get the hook set.
Could have been warmer and drier, but still beat working today!
