Pike fishing?

Post By: Inlandsharpie777      Posted: 5/4/2017 1:54:02 PM     Points: 255
I've been doing a little reading on the pike fishing up in the white river basin, and I'm interested in getting with some local knowledge and hammering some fish. School ended for me today, and I'm looking at a date around May 20th to come up and do some floating/fishing. I own a 16 foot drift boat, but have never floated the area and don't know if that's overkill or not. I'll probably be up there regardless of whether or not i find a fishin buddy, but any advice is appreciated, and for those pike aficionados... I'll let 'em go.

Stay Sharp

CPW & F&WS have pretty much hammered the pike out of the river. It would also be approaching peak flow.

Pike and smallmouth are mostly gone in the Yampa. You could try Elkhead Res., there are still some really nice ones in there.

what about that lake in Chuck Lewis Wildlife Area? I know a few years ago there was some pike in there. Does anyone know if there are enough pike to bother fishing?

Dam, wish i woulda saw this earlier. I catch pike in the river. I just wade the river in public areas. Bet you could tear them up on a boat!
