Lake: Two Buttes Reservoir

Two buttes question

Post By: smallieking      Posted: 2/20/2017 10:42:50 PM     Points: 1383
I would like to try this lake in April or May. I would be shore fishing. Looking for thoughts on a spot of how you catch them. Thanks so much for your help! Ryan

I've always heard by the dam is always pretty good for trout.

What about warm water species?

I have never fished it from shore, but most the bank fishermen tend to fish near the dam and the south boat ramp. There is a boat ramp on the north side with lots of good looking structure near shore. Last fall the end of the north ramp was out of water. It's a good fishing lake. You should have fun.

I have never been there, have read about it, heard podcasts about it, would love to make the trek, but trout would be last species I would target there for sure! -A

I asked the same questions last year, I copied the link to visit the post and answers, I basically asked the same questions, and I am curious about how the fishing is for LMB or Crappie in particular.

any info would be greatly appreciated!

We filmed there last September and caught a few fish right around the main boat ramp...looked to be decent shore access at that end of the lake. We were in my boat so I wasn't paying that close of attention to the bank access. The vast majority of the fish we caught would not be accessible without a boat. Regardless, plan on fishing heavy cover.

I sure hope the dam will be permanently repaired...seems to be a budget thing. The outlet continuously leaks I'm told by several locals. Minimal springs, no river...it fills only from surface water so very susceptible to weather...and leaking water. A couple more good water years and that place will be awesome. CL
