Lake: Upper Reservoir - Palmer Lake

I know I had to wear waders to get through the first couple feet of pureach slush to clear thick 10". Was wondering if anyone had been up there and saw if ice is accessible?

I haven't been up in quite some time so have no idea what ice conditions are like there right now. Should you decide to go up, please submit a conditions report.

With both Monument and Palmer Lake having open water, I would suspect Upper to have open water too, skim ice at best.

Last time I was up there Palmer was wide open but there was still close to 10" does anyone know if I called the town if they could give me any info? Really want to pull a few more bookies through the ice before ice out, unless anyone has any other suggestions (pic is from last time up, kept a few for dinner, delicious!) Had a fantastic day last time up, worth the hike.

you can call the city and they'll put you through to the guy that "manages" the reservoir.

The brookies up there have beautiful color

Buddy was there this past Saturday. Open water near shore so he had to walk around to the big boulders to get on the ice.. I would be careful if you decide to go up as he fell in close to shore but luckily only up to his knees.

We went up Sunday the first 2 feet of shore were slush. I figure last week it stopped freezing on Tuesday and hit 80 friday. This week it stopped freezing Thursday and nothing over 60 and it supposed to freeze a bit Friday night. I'm gonna try to hit the ice right at sun up if anyone wants to join.

Anyone been up recently? Is the water open? I would assume so after this beautiful weather we've been having.
