I spent the weekend at my cabin at lake Granby and saw 1 ice tent near Sunset Point on Friday. I wasn't comfortable going out on the lake with a snowmobile and sled so I fished Lake John Saturday. When I left Granby New Years Day there were a few folks fishing on the lake. I spoke to Richard Craeger (Budget Tackle) and he said the Lake had between 4 and 6 inches of ice over most of the lake. I'll wait until this weekend to go back up. Hopefully the ice will be closer to 8 inches. Richard said the few reports he received were good. He also said the biologists feel this will be a very productive ice fishing season. Only time will tell. If you want an accurate update call Richard at Budget Tackle (970) 887-9344.

Ice about 4-7 inches around dike 3 and the bite is really slow, the lake trout are right on the bottom and really hard to get to bite, try using glow or white tube jigs tipped with cut sucker. had some luck with waterdogs on grand lake.
