Creek Chub added to my list of species

Tied up some little flies a couple days ago and decided to try them out in a little creek that i know is jammed full of creek chubs. Managed to get one to bite. Not a big one but ive never caught one before so it was pretty cool.

Thats really cool RK! I love it when members catch these off the wall species. Im not sure Ive fished where those are present and Ive never seen one. Im jealous.

They're really all over the place. The creek by Pomona lake has some big ones. They get up to about 12 inches. My dad and I used to fish bear creek a lot for trout and he would catch a lot of em on small jigs. I've also heard clear Creek through town has some

Good work crossing another species off your list RK!

We have flyfished Bear Creek by the lake twice this year with no action. Whatdo you recommend for flies for chubs? Pomona is so low now and the creek too that any fish in the creek may winter kill. Heres a rececent pic by the inlet.

For the fly I used a size 12 bait hook with some goose feather tail and a brown body tail. Basically anything that's pretty small would work.

Hope they let Pomona fill up a bit before winter so it doesn't winter kill.
