Went camping with the wife and dogs this weekend, got up to the Williams fork river area around 9ish and there were people everywhere. finally found a camp site and set up for the night. Was nice being able to have a fire in the fire ring even with the fire ban going on(we were in a campground). Side note every national forest pull off camp site we saw had a fire going even though there were signs everywhere saying fire ban. Woke up saturday and went for a nice 3 mile hike(gotta get in shape for hunting season) then proceeded to head down to the river. I started casting a spinner and had hits immediately, then set up the fly rod and gave that a shot. 1st cast with the fly went right into the trees, after wading across to free that up I went back to the spinner. My wife picked up the fly rod just for the hell of it (she has never even casted it before) and started swinging it around and found her form, and immediately hooked up to a nice 10 inch brookie. Well 3 or 4 fish later you couldnt wipe the smile off her face. Shes fished before and likes it but usually looses interest fairly quickly, but I think she really enjoyed catching fish and being able to feel the tug. (Im still learning how to fish colorado myself so I cant always get her on fish) Either way shes started talking about getting her own fly rod so Im pretty happy.
We ended up with about 15 or so fish between the 2 of us in a little over an hour. Nothing over 10 inches but that doesnt bother me
