Lake: Lowell Ponds

First open water fish of 2016

Post By: rkhancock      Posted: 2/18/2016 6:50:58 PM     Points: 22834
Fished Lowell ponds for a couple hours after school and caught this big bass. Probably all of 6 inches. But hey it was my first open water fish of 2016 so can't complain too much. Had a fun time and glad we were just able to get out on the water.
Talked to a guy who said he caught a couple bass on the fly but left his fly rod against the fence on the way out. When he came back it was gone. Unfortunately in that part of town it probably didn't last long before it got picked up. Was hopefully thinking that someone on here knows what happened to it but I know that's a long shot.

Nice. Atleast you caught something.. I was planning on going today too after work but the wind and minimal timing didn't play into my schedule.

Don't forget to submit lake update/report

Nice catch. Basketball and the wind have holed me up but hopefully this next week. Bummer about the fly rod. They do disappear quick.

The tug is the drug. Nice that you had the pleasure. Happy to see open water, and it's the middle of Feb! Sweeet.

Thanks all. After blanking on multiple sessions on open water this year it was nice to finally catch a fish. Even though it was windy it was still a nice warm day to be out

Are all of the ponds open? I've been looking for open water for bass and I just am curious before I make the 45 minute drive.

Can you take non-motorized craft on Lowell?

I've tubes the big pond, there really is no reason to tube the other 1's though, they are small and easy to walk the whole bank in less than 20 min. The big pond you can't walk the South side, but you can tube it -)

I know you're allowed to have tubes but I'm not sure about other non motorized boats. The big pond is the only one it would be worth tubing. Other than that the ponds on the west side are pretty small
