Firs time ever fish this lake cause i was told that it holds huge carp but i didin t see any action in this lake but after two hours a felt a slight pull on my line didin t pay to much attention because the wind was blowing hard and it was hard to see the line when i set the hook to see what was it it started to jerk a bit so i real it in and my surprise was this catfish 1 pound 3 ounces i guess it was allright not what i was looking for but it pay back i still hold my record at the south platte river for a 15 pounds mirror carp. I will give it another try next june.

There are some big carp in Sloans--don't give up, you'll get one. In a perfect world, for me, my carp bait works equally as well for cats.

They are in there! I have been fishing there all this past summer at least once a week. I caught numerous 30"+ on my 5wt fly rod. The lake has recently turned over. The shallows in the lake are now colder than the deeper parts, youll find them in the deeper holes. Look for points, drops or some of the piers where the water will exceed 6'.

Good luck!

Thatks for the tips i will try again, i was at the south west side of the lake it was shallow i notice when i cast it the line just stood there right where it was dropt i had shoft bites but it didint look like carp may be because there is alot of catfish in there do to the muddy bottom. I been doing some corn recipes with coolaid flavors but didint work i order carp boilies from the UK since thats the major sport down there in a hair rigs and it works on the river because of the current dispersing the boilie odor around but on calm water its slow it needs some time.
