Caught this little guy Fishing a new place near my house in Longmont.

I think you guessed right. Orangespotted sunfish. Maybe one of the experts will weigh in.

really cool looking fish! i've only caught one of them and it wasn't nearly as colorful. looks like it should be in a tropical aquarium!

orangespotted sunfish...definetly not a common catch, beautiful little fish for sure!

If that is an orange spotted its a verry colorfull one. Never seen them with that bright of color on the belly and the ones i have captured have never had the orange stripe on the dorsal. Cool looking fish.

You are absolutely correct. That is a male orange-spotted sunfish.
Great catch, rare find, and beautiful pictures.
