Fish: Common Carp

A first for me

Yesterday my fishing buddy and I decided to head over to Pomona lake to see what we could get. Well that turned out to be a wise decision. He caught four carp (21-30 inches), a bunch of bass and bluegills, and one crappie. Watching him catch those carp was a blast because that was his first time ever catching carp and so it turns out that he caught the four biggest fish of his life. The carp weren't so friendly to me on the other hand. I had caught the bass and bluegills but could not land a carp, although i did have two on that got away. As the sun starts to set we decided to fish into the night, after we had be fishing since before 11 in the morning. And finally around 9:45 I land my first carp of the day which is the first carp I've ever caught night fishing.

Nice! I really like Pomona Lake--it can be tough to land carp there because of the steep shorelines in places. There's some big ones in there!

I always pass by there and never know how to get into a parking area or where to go into the neighborhood, any directions and advice?

I usually take 80th west from wadsworth the turn right onto Estes street and park by the trail to the lake. To get to the parking lot go west on 80th then turn right onto clubcrest then turn right onto 81st and that'll lead you to a parking lot.

Yeah....get on 81st and theres a parking lot by the tennis courts but theres only 3 spaces so go early. You can do it the other way Rkhancock said too...just a longer walk.
