Don't Bash the Trash - Carp Tournament is ON - July 18th, Lake Arbor

The TightLine Outdoors, "Don't Bash the Trash" Carp Fishing tournament is a GO for Saturday, July 18th at Lake Arbor.
This took some tremendous effort from TLO to get a permit for the event - so FINS-UP to them and to the local authorities for making this happen.
This is a CATCH & RELEASE carp fishing tournament, the first of it's kind in our State. It is a $50 entry fee per angler with a $1000 cash payout, I think there may be other additional prizes, equipment etc. It was noted there is "FREE COFFEE" and lunch provided - so heck, i'd show up just for the coffee!
I do admit, I am pretty excited about taking part, fishing alongside some very enthusiastic and passionate Colorado carp anglers, drinking a shed-load of coffee and having some fun - hopefully I may even catch a carp or two - which given my recent dry spell, would be great. I usually don't fish tournaments - so this will be a first for me as well !
For details of the event, registration details and event specific rules can be found on the TLO website. If you have any questions about the event, you should direct these to TLO.
I had to take a day of vacation, and grovel to a co-worker to cover for me, just to make this, as I always usually work Saturdays. If this event is a success, I am sure there will be more in 2016.
Bron, look forwards to seeing you there and raising a cup of java in your honor. I hope to be able to take some time after the event to chat to everyone. Now lets hope the Colorado weather cooperates !
Reaching out to everyone I can think of to see if they are coming. CarpQuest's Canadian lunatic "Ron" - hopefully will be in attendance, there is a vile rumor of a particular well known cat fishing guru - who just wants to plant the boot down even more on my throat and add insult to injury, I know the guys from "Team Carp Squatch" plan to attend, and a few others. If C-DOG reads this, maybe he will come, James - doubtful, but i'll make sure he knows about the event. Not sure if Robert is taking part (from Replica's Inc) - you may have seen him on the Euro Carping episode of FishFul Thinker. I saw Replica's Inc are a sponsor of the event.
I'm definitely going to swing by to check everything out. I live just on the other side of wadsworth, probably take the wife and little one for a stroll and chat with some of you guys. Good luck to all of you who are going to be fishing!

91F - dang, that's coffee weather for sure ! Given this is Colorado, also means we could get snow, hail, sun, rain, thunderstorms, blistering sun, tornado's or even a bit of fog - typical Colorado day !
The registration is there Bron. When i just went to their site, clicked the events tab at the top, then you can scroll down (right below the section pic I posted) and register/checkout (using the Pay it Square) - I am using a PC though, not a cell phone, so who knows what it looks like from a phone interface.

Does anyone know exactly what defines a legal packbait? I understand that it needs to be reeled in intact, but from how long a soak and how long a cast? thanks
Is this a single person or team event? Thought the rules said that the team mate could only help with landing fish.
Some good questions, we may get more answers at the 6am rules mtg. I would suggest sending your inquiries to Nate at TLO. I know little more than anyone else.

John--is the rules meeting at 6:00? My confirmation says event goes from 7:00--4:00. I think I have got an e-mail through to Tightlines and I asked him to review this thread because there were some questions on here.
Hello everyone! I can't tell you how excited we are to host this event!!!! I know there are lots of questions so I'll answer a few but if you have additional text me at 303-947-8327 or email at tightlineoutdoors@gmail.com.
We have had a few changes since our original flyer went out. Here are the details.
Rules meeting will be at 6:15am but we ask that show up around 6am. We will have free donuts and coffee. The rules meeting will be held at the pavilions on the west side of the lake. The lake will be divided up into 4 zones. At the rules meeting you will draw for what zone you will fish that morning. That will be your zone from the start of the event at 7am til 11am. At 11am you will stop fishing and return to the pavilion. We will have free lunch and drinks at the pavilion. At lunch you will be assigned your afternoon zone. You will fish that zone from noon to 4pm.
Each Zone will have multiple judge's (aka Carp Girl's). As you catch a Carp a judge will come over and measure your Carp. Once it's measured you will return your Carp to the water. The single angler at the end of the day with the most total inches of Carp will win!!!
Teams or individual- each angler will register individually and pay the $50 per angler registration fee.
We mention teams- we had many anglers concerned that they wanted or needed help netting fish and or wanted to fish with a friend. So we are allowing you to fish with a friend to make your team but again... You are fishing against that person. I hope that makes sense. So your fishing individually but if you want to make sure your in the same zone as a friend please tell us at registration that your making a team. Last time- it's $50 person.
We will also Carp clothing available at the event. All proceeds go back to the event to ensure the future of Carp events in Colorado.
If you have additional questions please contact me!!! Text - 303-947-8327 Email - tightlineoutdoors@gmail.com
I talked to Nate today and I can tell you he has some huge plans for these events. I don't think I'm at liberty to say except to be sure to watch what is coming this winter with the Ice Addiction series. If what he told me is true, there has never been prizes anything like it for a tournament in CO. in the past. Some of his sponsors must really liked what they saw last year. I can't wait! See you all Sat.

Bump.....
Doc, if you're interested in teaming up or not, please email me regardless at my skipper address so I can register tonight. I don't mind fishing solo either - so no worries if can't join - Thanks!
Hate to tell you Daris, those big gold fish do eat other fish :) they have a particular fondness for cat fish fry ! Think i've stopped laughing now after watching that short vid a few times ! you're crazy !
I do know that but did you know when they eat a baby cat the cat kills them some times by choking to death. That vid was made for you so you would spittle a little. My son said "Jesus delete that " lmfao
The tight line guys are pretty darn good at this thing by now. I would venture a guess that they have porta johns set up for the event. They did at all the ice addiction tourneys
Good luck to all participating anglers. My common sense, mixed with reality setting in, has humbly forced me to sit this one out. I have a 1 month newborn that I would feel way too guilty to be involved in something so time-intensive at so young of age.
As a fam, we still might take a stroll around the lake to say hi. I'm cheering for Bron and his son (team) since they graciously invited me to this tourney personally. If I had to bet $$$, I think JOHN_COSprings is going to take the crown!

There were bathrooms on the West side where we are meeting tomorrow--last time I was there. Zep--as a dad I get it...Blake is old enough to participate and that's different. Still hope to see you! My prediction--from fishing Arbor in the Summer before--is 3 fish may make you a winner.
Ledz, thanks for the words of support, though i reckon anyone could win. A good peg draw, fish infront of them, bait out there, they will catch carp.
Weather could play a factor, going to be a hot morning and maybe a stormy afternoon. I will give it my best shot, but honestly will be happy to be there, support carp fishing and see others having a great time, catching what was once considered a trash fish !
Bron, last time i fished Arbor, i caught 1 small carp. You prediction may hold true, but i suspect that someone is going to have a real haul fest, if they get the carp feeding infront of them. My goal, is to not blank !
I hope all of you guys have a great time! Looking forward to seeing some weirdo carp porn and a great gathering of FxR folks! I'll be at the place where there are no fish this weekend.
Panfish, i suspect you are correct, a zone draw for morning and another for afternoon. Whether each zone is split into pegs, guess we find out in 12 hrs ! See ya all in th morning, will find me where the coffee is !!!

The whole event was a great time! So glad your son won Daris....good for him! Really cool meeting John... Daris.. and Panfishin. Billy...great network! Liked Tighline and the job they did on this.
daris? you are a bad mofo! maybe one day ill meet you on some waters. I really do have web middle toes. I chase pike on the fly but catfishing and sweet pickle bait is something that comes from a man that studies fish feeding habits and I have a high regard for you. I happen to fish with blair wiggins rods and victory reels too.
Was great to finally get to meet everyone in person. Huge congrats to Ryan, for the win, to everyone that took part, and most all, to TLO for hosting a great event,
In do confess to being oberwhelmed with joy to see so many passionate anglers turn up and give it everything in a Quest for Carp and glory !
Yes, i blanked, not even a single run. I shall be back next year, when we do it all again.
Rangler, hats off to your son. Congratulations and that pickle juice recipe video was pretty cool. I like how the YouTube genre was classified under "comedy" haha
Thats a pretty funny vid for sure so glad BTFM Paul got that on film should have heard my son as I was trying to to give a high5 lol he was like "um dad dad DAD!!! "That's was his thousand dollar fish. Had I not got it I would have never hear the end of it. Thanks DJ for posting it.

Me and Blake watched that go down...we were just to the right of the footage. When Daris went in I thought he might be hurt and took off to help him but he bounced up so quick we figured he was ok. I wasnt going to bring up your cliff dive Daris but now your viral!
Ryan Marty and I had a nice stake dinner he got off early so he joined us for a bite but Ryan still got me to pay somehow. That money was not going to be used for that lol
