Mark your calendars!
May 16th Pikeview Reservoir
Last year we started getting things ready about 7am, and finished up fishing between 11 and 12 if I remember correctly. You can go back to our post about it, or Catmans recent recollection. It really is a good time, for a great cause.
We'll have a potluck cookout afterwards for anyone who volunteers to help.
Thanks to Jim, Bass Pro has graciously donated bait again, and I spoke to Eagle Claw today who will be sending me terminal tackle and some hats to give away. I know Sportsman's Warehouse has donated a gift card, so the event organizer can use that for prizes or any other needed items.
So let's get signed up! Please keep the list going and let us know what you'll be bringing :) We had roughly 50 kids last year folks, the more hands, the better time everyone will have!
1. Coloradomrg (Dave) - Hot dogs and Chips (can bring potato salad if someone else wants to bring dogs. 2. Catman (Buck) - Grill 3. Rsrecurve (Richard) - 4. Anglerwannabe (Jim) -

Dave will correct me if I'm wrong but as he stated, we started setting up about 7am. Derby should be from 8-12 and then we will have a BBQ for fish explorer afterwards and buck will be cooking, I love me some of bucks cooking for sure. That dude knows how to cook a feast! Bring some hot dogs and take that off Dave's plate bron
say what? Last time catman cooked something for me.. it looked like it came from the movie The Towering Inferno! lol I'm convinced he was trying to kill me because I now know a couple of his secret spots.
All I know is last year it seemed like all the kids had a pretty good time and we had a pretty good time.

Typically we just try to get the kids on the plentiful stockers Bron. That goes for if it's this derby, or anytime I take someone there with kids.
There are a lot of stunted sunfish, though the weather will dictate if they want to play or not. There is also a chance at a decent saugeye, though the bucket brigade has messed that up pretty bad the past few years.
Last year DOW brought a little measuring trough so that we could keep record of who caught what, and 99% of the fish caught were released to see another day.

I'm not sure how to edit the food list--put me down for red chili please. I assume I can use a Coleman stove there. I'll make sure I have plenty of trout bait then. I'll try to put out our poles for carp if we have time and Blake and I will let the kids reel them in if we get lucky.

Bron, when we do the lists like this, you just copy the latest version and then paste it to a new post :) then you can modify or add to is as needed! There are some large carp in this lake... I just have never targeted them. I know carpquest (John) has done some video there.
I'm going with Allison on the 15th to get snap/swivels and split shot to round out the tackle that we need to get all the kids started.
Zekers! Hope you can make it brutha, will be good to see yeah and swap some Pueblo stories and lies.
It is a kids fishing derby at Pikeview, and a cookout afterwards. As mentioned, we will be gettin' the little crumb snatchers hooked up mostly on stockers. It's pretty much a few hours outta anybodies day, and we cook it up afterwards. And as mentioned, I will be cooking, as well as cookin' up whatever anybody brings from steak to salmon I got you covered.
I still have yet to figure out what to cook as a general meal. I might get crazy and bring some stuffed flank steak :)
I'll have to work out the details, but I'll try to bring my 3 tax deductions down. Sounds like a fun time! Buck, that flank steak will probably seal the deal! Once I firm up, I'll find out what you guys want me to bring!
If the weather looks decent I'd be interested in bringing my two rugrats down. Any age restrictions or registration stuff to deal with? Place is stocker heaven. Caught some bass out of there a couple weeks back. Sunnies, bass, stockers, saugeye, carp for sure in there. Heard rumors of musky in there over the years. Never seen one or know anyone who caught one though. Help out however I can.
