Fishing on 4/28

Post By: JTA      Posted: 4/28/2015 4:27:59 PM     Points: 50
I went fishing this morning with the wife and kids. We used powerbait and salmon eggs. We started on the west side of the lake at 8:30 and fished until 9:45. We had lots of bites on garlic scented lime green with glitter powerbait for about 30 to 45 minutes, then the sun went overhead and it was like someone turned off the switch. We didn't catch anything, but I think it was because the kids are inexperienced and I had to keep setting my pole down to help them. I might try again tomorrow evening.

Actually fish turning off during bright conditions especially after it makes the transition isn't all that uncommon. I think it has to do in part with the ability of the fish to see, and their comfort (feeling exposed) under bright conditions.

Thanks, I never thought about their ability to see or feeling exposed. I just assumed it had to do with the temperature of the water, not to mention that the bugs retreat when it gets warmer/ sunny.
