Looking for Jackson tips

I am heading to Jackson to camp with the family next weekend. We have never been to this lake and are excited to get into some fish. I would love some tips.

We will be fishing from shore and are not prejudice concerning species. Wiper and eyes are at the top of my list but just getting the kids on some fish is key. It would be cool to catch a drum to check that off the list also. I am guessing worms on the bottom in shallows in evening might work for them but I have never gone after them before so not sure.

Fish the in let and out let for carp and wiper. Water should be running now. Rattle traps curly tails jigs and jerk baits work pretty good. Decent trout fishing off of the dam on pb worms and crawdad tails. Wa Klee are tough in the lake but look towards rock structure right now.

Spicy i was just out there today. If you wanna catch some carp go fish the inlet. They hit fast and hard on crawlers on bottom. Talked to the ranger and he said they are catching trout out of the main lake west shore and the dam.
The inlet is not flowing and the outlet is just a pee trickle with no fish. If you are headed east to get there exit at theorchard exit and take the back way in as the bridge is out.

Crawdad tails will do the job for fresh water drums. It might be to early for them but it always works for me.

Thanks for the tips guys. I rarely target carp but would love to get the kids into that kind of fight. My boy is all about catching craw dads so I will have to try some tails.

Both bridges are out with no signage until you get there. So listen to LEW's warning. Or you will do as I did and have to wiggle your way around for a hr to get there.
