Fish: White Crappie

50-60 fish day

Post By: ColoradoOutdoorsman      Posted: 2/14/2015 9:45:48 PM     Points: 1931
Went to a local city res. looking for bass and ended up finding a school of crappies and ended up catching 50-60 in 1-2 hours. My friend caught about the same making a 100+ fish day. Did catch one small mouth but no pic of him. Here's my gopro video of the action [log in for link]

They were small jig heads with sparkle braid (the kind you get on a spool) and marabou. Purple is the color I was using.

Those are black crappie, but it doesn't really matter as long as they bite, congrats on finding them.

I just looked at the video, nice job. I haved fished that spot but not for crappie, did catch some blue gills there last summer. There are some larger crappie in the lake but they are hard to find, the best time is during the spawn but finding the location is the key, I'm still looking for that majic spot. Thanks for sharing.
