I ice fished the big pond of lowell today and the ice is sketchy! There was only one spot to get on the ice with the rest of the surrounding shoreline being slush, and the ice in the center of the pond was about 3-4 inches with some thin spots. The rest of the ponds were just skim ice, and after the warm weather we are about to have again, the ice on the bigger pond will not make it. Despite the ice, the fishing was actually pretty good! I was trying out my new vexilar and I got into a school of small bass and caught quite a few of them! The water clarity was also good at over 8 feet.

Ya, most people think you can't ice fish it just because of the location. It's owned by CPW though and they allow ice fishing there! I think I am the only one that has ice fished there this ice season. Haha

Last i heard theres no icing on the ponds, but thoses ponds don't get much attention from the game warden, i never see them patroling the ponds at all. Alot of maintenance needs done at lowell also. Im just waiting til the ice clears.
