Dang it. Do you know of where local ponds/lakes around Thornton that can be iced?

So you can't stand on the ice but you can "ice-it" from the dock. Kind of pushing the envelope a tad isn't it? To each their own I guess, but this doesn't sound too cool, and I don't think a fish is worth it, and I don!t think I would post about it. MYO
Good Fishing!

Seems like a valid loophole to me. The reason towns don't allow you on ice is because of liability not to stop you from fishing. You can fish year round if you can get your line in the water. I think it is a good idea personally.

I was once kicked out of Adams County regional park because I was in a kick boat and not a bellyboat. Official reason? Because I could fall in a drown.
I kid you not.

1) You should start reading the signs before you fish anywhere. Ice fishing is prohibited at ETV. Check it out. A picture of the sign is even posted on Fish Explorer. [log in for link]

2) There are no trout in ETV, at least none intentionally stocked.

3) Choochoo, Ice fishing is prohibited at all City of Thornton ponds.

I say he was not ice fishing as he was not standing on the ice! I think it is a clever way of overcoming an obstical And getting your line in the water. I don't feel any warden would have any problem with it.

I agree seems to be a lop hole in the regs IMO
Seems very legit to me.

Way to think outside of the box and get it done.

i got mey edumacation somewhere else, it thinks

The intent of the ice fishing rule is to keep you off the ice, Right?

Well hes off the ice, Is he not?

You have to take into consideration the intent of the law.

And to keep gas and oil out of water supply lakes. That have no water contact rules. I hear on thinking outside the box but remember most the land and water are leased in Colorado and can be pulled away from are use for very stupid reasons.

They allow bellyboats in the summer. Just no ice fishing,Seen a guy doing the pier fishing at Webster Lake today too, he still has his Auger with him.

Rationalizing something like this still doesn't make it ethical, sporting and right. Good Fishing!
