Man that ice is the sketchiest ice I've ever been on. Didn't even feel safe standing in the shallows. First of all there's about 1 1/2 of snow everywhere and it sucks just getting to the pond. Then I drilled and the hole sprouted several cracks. It's less than an inch where I drilled and l didn't want to go out any further.

Where on the pond were you? Because where I was fishing on the part closest to the highway there was a good 6-8 inches of ice with a lot of slush and 8 inches of snow on top.

We parked at the first lot and walked about 100 yards down into the forest and cut down to the lake. And going through that snow is a b word.

Where's a good place on that lake to take my kids. Is it windy? I've never been there?

Could be a bit windy depends on the day. I like the east side by the point. but everywhere on that lake will work. I haven't been there since first ice but if there is no snow on the ice (there should be) but if not it could be quite slick so I would recommend cleats you can get them for pretty cheap at any sporting goods store, one of the best investments ive made ice fishing

Breck. got 12" of snow according to the reports. So O.G. should have lots of snow. I always look at the weather reports for the area I want fish to see if the wind is to blow. Then I can change plans if need.
