Need help with catching catfish out of elaine t. Valiente , i went there and deep fished the front right lake with chicken liver and would get constant bites some bites bigger than others and would check my bait and it would be gone , what could this be i have caught bluegills catfishing before but what ever was messing with my bait i could not get the hook in.

My best advise would be to look for a different lake if you want to target catfish. I've fished there numerous times & have never seen one caught there. I would imagine your 'bites' you were actually crawfish or turtles picking at your liver. Lots of carp in there if you would like to catch them, though...

Good luck!

Probably small cats. They are very fast. You usualy have to be even faster to hook them and will probably see several foul hooked.

How big a bait were you using? A smaller cat will grab it and run giving you a strike, but the hook might not have been in the mouth. Try downsizing if you were using a bigger piece of liver.

Check out some of the catfishing articles and posts on here. There are some catfish masters on this site. But I agree with ColoradoDad. You would be better off fishing the TGP for catfish. I've never seen or heard of catfish come out of ETV BUT that doesn't mean there aren't any in there.

Never got one at Elaine T or TGP, you have a better chance at Grandview right up the street, 12 pounder caught there last year. Not by me , of course. Have you tried using cut bait?
