One of these days I need to drive my butt over there and take a look - a small venue though, would be interesting to see what's in there !

not a gravel pit, looks like it may have been a farm pond.fished it last year from the Tube, did not see any carp, but did O.K. for other fish.

You could try calling the CPW office in Lamar that manages this area:

I read it is around 20 ft. and spring fed.

Fished it once and there were big carp jumping from the sound of the splashes and visuals on the wakes, never did get eye on one to see if they were grass or common. They were scaring the crap out of us in the little boat. Think the deepest we found was around 18' closest to the rip rap dam reachable by cast but a lot of shallow water. Some little cats floating belly up though. Also the only place I've been checked by a game warden, go figure.

Lake shore is choked by tumbleweed as of a month or so ago. 18-20' if you can find a pocket, averages around 15 on the south side. Locals said the fishing isn't as good this year as the last couple.

Fishrangler,

Me and my fiance fish kinney many times every summer, have only caught one carp pictured below. We have caught however many catfish, crappie, a few saugeye, trout (before the locals fish them all out), largemouth bass, one bull frog and a number of turtles. Pretty fun for a small lake. As far as depth goes i doubt the lake exceeds twelve feet at its highest point.

if you are looking for carp go up the road a couple miles, the eastern most pond at the hugo ponds has some large carp.

Sounds like a good combo fish/hunt area. How is the Dove hunting there?
