Hi, I was wanting to take the family to juniata tomorrow, but I have never been there before. I was wondering if anybody knows how the fishing is and any tips on how to fish it would greatly appreciated.
Walleye have been on the steep clay banks and the main lake points, but I could not find one yesterday until sundown when I caught one on the dam. The fish came from 10 fow on a 1/8 oz head and a Gene Larew long john, which is a 3 /12" thumper tail. Work the steepest part of the dam south of the pump house. Slow steady retrieve just off the bottom is the ticket. There are some trout crusing the dam and the point just east of the spillway. Small confetti or smoke grubs on a steady retrieve just under the surface or a prince nymph behind a bubble moved very slowly or just sitting. Smallmouth are post spawn and are in the timber or on the dam. Take lots of water cause it's really hot out there.
