Had the afternoon free today and finally had good weather so I got to take my daughter fishing for a while. We headed to the city park kids pond because of the luck we had fishing it for the first time last week (5-6 lb trout that she reeled in to the shore and it snapped off!) I started her off with a worm under the bobber and it got hit right away. She ran and helped me reel it in ( pretty good for a 2 1/2 yr old, I was impressed) and was loving it when we landed it. Nothing else hit the worm after that so I tied in a trout lure to her pole and the game was on. We had a hit every cast and landed ten trout. She had a great time with the smaller fish she caught and i think I have her hooked on the sport. I couldn't have asked for a better day fishing with my kid!

Nothing better... So glad you get to do that with your little girl. My daughter is 19 and at college now and just today she posted a picture of a Blue Gill on her Fly Rod from GJ. I miss fishing with her, but I love the time I get to spend with her doing that. You are right.. No Wiper or Pike can ever compare..

Thanks guys, yea the time I get to spend with her is great and I look forward to many more memories. Glad I could help some of you reminisce and look back. Time goes by way too fast.

Good stuff that's what it's all about. We can all take note from that. My grandfather always told me when you go fishing it's not about the fish. I never understood what he meant but now I do. Won't be long before she's out fishing dad. Got to love family time in the great outdoors

birdnestin, don't know if you let that fish go or not but, if you did, I'm certain s/he swam back and told the rest of the school, "I had the privilege of having my photo taken with the most adorable little girl who has the best sort of dad ever!"

If you had that trout for supper, then it gave its life for one great cause: Daddy-Daughter time!

Thanks guys and we released every fish we caught. I appreciate all the great comments and it was like the fish went back and told their friends to eat too haha. An awesome day and many more to come.
