Island Lake Ice

Went up yesterday am. Lake was completely capped, but ice was sketchy. On east end there was 1.5 inches of good clear ice on top of water, then about an inch of water trapped beneath another 3 inches of milky ice. I only went as far as the Island. Stay off of the snow covered areas as they are really weak. Splake were suspended at about 30 feet and the bite was tentative, but caught six in about 1.5 hour. Action really slowed around 9:30 am. Trail to the lake was a certifiable S*B, so I spent some time packing it in on the way out. FISH WERE NICE AND PINK>

Thanks for the update. The wife and I are heading up there Friday. This cold weather should have pretty safe by then.

Thanks for the update. I was wanting to take the kiddo up for his first icing of the year but I'll have to wait for more ice. Hopefully it gets thick quick.

Well we didn't make it to Island Lake, we got up there too late. We decided to stop at Beaver Lake by the lodge. The ice was soild, 3" of clear with 4" of cloudy on top. Seen several good fish cruising under the ice but no takers. Had a good day with the wifey up above the clouds none the less.

Nice Man! I might try and head up there today. Thanks for the update. Looks like the weather was way better up there than it was down in GJ.
