Lake: Hohnholz Lake #3

Post By: brymai      Posted: 10/9/2013 10:04:50 AM     Points: 286
My dad is visiting from out-of-state and we were planning on heading up to the lakes this weekend. It is a long drive for us to get there so I was wondering...Are the roads passable? Current conditions? Any action up there? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Because of the flooding in my area, I've been unable to make it up to Hohnholz to fish -( But if I recall correctly, there was a conditions report submitted shortly after the rain stopped, and it said the roads were still passable. Weather has been nice since then, so you should be fine!

I know this is a week old, but I get frustrated when people want a report before they go fishing and then never submit one after they get back.

The lake is fishing well, but I would recommend fishing deep. The deeper I fished the better I did. Most of the action was about 30 ft off the shore. A wooly bugger produced well for me as long as it was at the right depth. I also got a few on a prince nymph. I saw a shore fishermen get some action with a pink egg pattern right at the 'boat ramp'. I had the lake to myself most of the day. The road was in pretty good condition, but that has probably changed over the past few days. I didn't catch anything smaller than 14" but nothing bigger than 18". They were all FAT!
