they are in there - I have caught some 5-7lb cats from Waneka. Be prepared to catch a snapping turtle if you're using stink bait. :)

Do you fish by the rocks or by the inlet?

my best luck has been on the west side of the lake - my buddy and I would park in the neighborhoods over on that side and there are sidewalks/trails from there which lead to the lake. It's nice muddy flats over on that side.

Thanks for the info, does the park close at dark or can you night fish it?

Waneka is one of my favorite lakes that i've fished growing up here in colorado, it used to be great for Perch until the bucket bregade got to them and wiped them out. However the big fish are still in there and if you know how to catch them youll be rewarded. I've only caught one 9lb catfish from there years ago/

The catfish in this lake love Mackeral chunks on circle hooks, fish by the docks, just fan cast off the dock until you find fish. Good Luck

Let me know when they run water into the lake by the park, thank you

Yep, big ones are hitting. Caught a 20 lb. cat Saturday that broke off and flipped back into the water, 10 lb. cat Sunday, and another 20 lb. cat yesterday. Have cell phone pics but they're not the greatest.

chunks of hotdog, bout an inch long. Too big for the lil ones but the big ones have no trouble. Also use big treble hooks!! Good luck.
