I was planning on going Sunday evening but the allure of Walleyes at Horsetooth got to me. Normally this is the week where it all thaws, by the 14th anyways. With these warm temps this week I can guarantee that it's open by Wednesday if it's not already.
The lake rarely changes more than a foot in level, and the temperature of the water lags behind most of the other bodies of water due to the river inflow and massive hogbacks that shade the lake for a good portion of the day.
Last year I started catching smallmouth by this time, I think it was the 6th of March last year. Some eye's at the beginning of April but after that I was a bit too late to catch them up shallow. If you want bass... try the entire month of June.
I will report as soon as I can get out to it. Might be Tuesday evening.
I hooked this guy on the 10th last year... thought it was a pig smallmouth.
