Corn Lake in Grand Junction

Post By: bigAB      Posted: 1/25/2013 7:38:34 PM     Points: 109
Went to Corn Lake and ice is very thick 10'' and solid. Caught tons of trout of silver kastys, pink rat finkees, orange rat finkees, 1.5'' green tubes, 1.5'' pink tubes. Tipped everything with either a shrimp flavored salmon egg or a wax worm. Caught many, many, many trout. Then also caught a tiny catfish on a tip up with a small silver kasty tipped with a wax worm.

Attached a picture of my first iced catfish.

Nice little kitty. Looks like a bullhead. The baby channels are silver in color with little black spots. Alot of people never iced a cat though congrats.

Thanks,
The picture makes it look like a bullhead sort of, but definitely had the bone structure of a common catfish when close up.

Sounds like a great day of consistent action. I'm surprised that little guy tripped your tip-up LOL

Changed my mind you are definitively right. It seems the small one I caught just didn't have the super large boney head or bright head color of an adult that I'm used to.
