Crappie on the tooth

Pretty nice day out today, stiff winds early but they settled down and almost wanted to go swimming at one point. However, the fish didn't seem to be so psyched about the sun. Got into a bunch of crappie pretty much wherever we looked for them. Slow fishing a clouser minnow in a range of 8-12 feet deep. Really slow. Didn't get any trout or bass to take.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of heading there on Monday. Were you fishing from a boat?

I'm not a fly fisherman, so I should try a small grup or rapala to look like a small minnow?

Were they back in the coves, mouths of coves, or in the main body of water?

Are the fishin 8-12 foot or suspended in 8-12 foot over deeper water?

We were in my boat...but everything we fished was shoreline-related. I'm thinking a small grub would be perfect, but a small slow jerk bait or crankbait might work as well. We were fishing really slow to these fish. I think you'll find crappie in many places on the reservoir. The fish were suspended 8-12 feet, or I should say we were effectively fishing that deep when getting hook-ups. I am sure there were fish lower too. The depth in these spots were typically 16-20 feet. We didn't fish any coves, but they're probably worth a shot....we just ran out of daylight and warmth! They seemed to be relating to rocky shelves, and we found them on dams, cove-mouth-points, and corner pockets. Trout started getting active on the surface right at dusk too.

Good luck!
