Any Catfish In CO RIvers???

Post By: jgriffie      Posted: 8/2/2012 6:49:19 PM     Points: 22
Fellow anglers:

I was wondering are there any rivers in CO that hold a decent numbers of catfish? I’ve always wanted to try fishing for cats from a boat on a river so I figured why not start now? I’m not looking for directions to anyone’s “secret catfish honey hole” just some info on CO river(s) where I can hook into a few whiskers. I would assume that there would be some in the Arkansas below Pueblo but with gas at $3 plus a gallon don’t want to drive the rig all the way down if no one has ever seen/heard of any in that body of water. Once I have a starting point I can take it from there.

Thank you in advance & tight lines.

jgriffie,
You can find numbers, not so much size, of catfish in the Colorado near Grand Junction and the immediate areas, Green River, and Yampa River from Hayden west.

When I go out for field work, I try to make it my goal to catch 100 catfish in a week. Sometimes, if field work allows a half day, I'll catch 25 or so then.

They love worms just bounced on the bottom, but you'll also find takers for crankbaits and flies.
