Caught and released 14 total trout today. I posted a conditions report for detailed info. but heres a few I caught. Largest ones were 16-17inches. Most were 11-12inch.

That's pretty cool you caught a 16/17" out of Runyon, fun lake to fish for sure :)

I know, I was shocked too. Not very often I get the bigger trout. usually just stocker size up to around 13-14max. But Ive been keying in on their patterns lately and it's been paying off very well.

Which ones were 16-17 inches in length? Most stocker trout are not in that length range. Runyon is a fun fish though, a lot of fun people, and has huge saugeye.

Ya nightangler, even though most of them were just around stocker size it made for a very fun time. LittleFlyBigFish, The 2nd picture was one of the larger Trout I caught and I added another photo to show the other larger one. I just had a hard time getting a great photo because I was alone and didnt want to risk the fish dying or staying out of the water for too long. I dont have a tape measurer but I wear a size 14 shoe and thats how I get an idea of the length. Most were just an inch or so smaller than my shoe but the 2 bigger ones were 1-3 inches longer than my shoe. Maybe it was closer to 15-16inches rather than 17in but I do know it was more than my shoe size. I try to be as accurate as possible and not stretch the size to unreal lengths.

The pattern I have been keying on is where the river part that flows under the dirt road bridge area that is gated off now meets the main part of the Lake. It is fairy shallow looking but if you throw about 5-8 feet beyond the current and then either let the bait sit with no slack in line, or if you see the fish jumping and surfacing alot go ahead and throw some lures in the same area and keep the rod tip about shoulder high as not to snag shallow bottom and medium-fast retrieve. This is how i've just been killing them! Hope that helps ya out.

NightAngler- I would like to go fishing sometime soon with ya man. I emailed you back so just get back at me and lets find a date that works for both of us and lets have an action packed day of multiple and Large Fish!

Thanks for all the replies and interest in my posts, pictures, and conditions reports. Hope it helps catch a few more fish.

JKaboom. We should go try and target just Saugeye and Walleye. Hit me back if thats something you would want to go try.

Ii would be up for that. I've never really gone after walleye or saugeye but been reading a lot about them. Let's try to get together in the next week or two, I will be coming down from C/S. You have much luck with them?

I have done well on Walleye at the P-lo RES but have never tried going for Walleye/Saugeye at Runyon Lake. This would be a first for me but I've seen people with nice hauls of them from there and others saying how good it is there as well. So I think it would be worth trying. Im busy this weekend but any time next week or weekend and im down. Email me directly at wills_and_deals@yahoo.com so we can exchange info and work out the details. I think we will have fun and get into some good fish.
