My 1st Sauger

Decided to brave the snowy day & jig for some fish, when a familiar hook up took place! I thought for sure walleye because it felt like I was reeling in a small log or boot until it got close then went back down 10' or so. Netted the fish to find it was sauger. Then I commenced to slaying them! Landed 3 decent size fish for sauger. Many bites but hard to get a good hook set they were dropping the jig before I could set. I don't know why I've heard folks complain about these fish, I really enjoyed the few hours I was there & onto them! Bright colored Marabou jig tipped with soft plastic bait was working for me. I bagged 2 & released the big girl about 18" 3lbs or so (a fatty)

Haha! thanks guys that means a lot, but you know the sun even shines on a dogs ass sometimes. And that is all that happened. I give this one to luck (which is rare for me) I located the spawning beds and them girls didn't like my jigs bumping around in those parts. This was a big deal for me, maybe it happens everyday for the pro's and such, but I been after a toothy fish for sometime with no luck & today brought back my fishin spirit for sure!
