Fishing with kids...

Post By: wbaker01      Posted: 7/21/2007 11:47:29 AM     Points: 1
I'm trying to find a good spot in the Southern Metro area, we live in Parker, to take my daughters, 5 and 4, fishing at and actually catch something. We tried Chatfield last weekend and just got back from Cherry Creek but had absolutely no luck at either spot, no bites even. We did try the ponds at Chatfield as well. Both places had pretty choppy water with boats and such on the lakes. So, what I'm looking for is a place with nice quiet water for some shore fishing. I'm thinking of trying Aurora Reservoir next weekend but am looking for other ideas as well.

Thanks,
Bill

Try Redstone Park Pond for 12-16 inch catfish in the evenings. Worms on the bottom will get you into fish, maybe an elusive bass or the odd sunfish. It also has a nice playground and soccer fields, so if the action is slow, the kids have something to entertain themselves. From S. Santa Fe Drive go east on Town Center Drive, west of Foothills Canyon Blvd. Pond and park is on the southwest side of the intersection. Also has a skate park. Lots of frogs there, too.
