Landed this football figure Goldy jigging for Crappie late fall. I see them running in packs in the shallows on hot days but never this gold color, always dark orange. Heavy 2+lber on my ultra light was pretty fun!

It's just a really fat carp. You can tell by the barbels. Goldfish don't have barbels. 8D Fun fighting little fish. Just wait until they get bigger, took me 15 minutes to land an 18" carp on my ultralight.

So from what i've read that second pic is a gold fish. The first pic i think is a goldfish carp hybrid. It says in the species info from this site that these will sometimes interbreed.

Interesting article. Yeah im thinking there both gold fish... there are so many in that lake and I think they're spawning and they got really active this last week w flying out of the water every 30 seconds. Flies and the smallest gulp minnows have been on their diet. Cool catch for sure though.

As long as they're keeper sized. Walleye put up a good fight. I might have to go hit up prospect. Don't think I'll keep or eat anything out of that lake though. LOL

Haha..
Those goldies have taken big tubes before when im fishing for eyes.
And just about EVERYTHING I catch goes back. Ill take a trout or 2 to throw on the grill on a nice hot day for me and the lady and I never keep ANYTHING overr 18 inches, anywhere... I suggest releasing everything in that lake so the fisherie gets better there.

And as far as those 2 fish, they had the same body shape. Nothing was different except the colors. So my guess is, whatever one of those fish are, the other is as well.

Not all gold fish are orange most are the color of your first fish at the top of this thread. The goldfish breeders will take the common color fish and sell them as food/bait for other tropical fish in fish tanks. Some times these fish will end up used as bait and then released into the wild but most of the time the not so pretty gold fish are killed by the breeders when they have no color to them. The Orange color gold fish is sold as pets and sometimes gets to large for the typical goldfish tank and released into your local lakes by mom and dad not knowing any better. These gold fish can do a lot of damage. Do some reading on it and you will see just how much damage can happen to a lake with gold fish in it. And yeas they can breed with a common carp and you will end up with a hybrids.
Might I make a suggestion please..Write a letter to the local fishery Biologist to see what they would recommend on these particular gold fish you are catching, if you should either Released them back or kill them if caught. I think it is great to practice catch and release, but in this instance a little more research is needed to do the right thing. I do not think they would want them in the lake. They were introduced illegally. Take a couple minutes write the leter and find out. And please fallow up and let us know what they say. I would be interested in the responce from them. Thanks.

Oh yeah most definitely. I read articles all about that. I know they are not supposed to be in that lake. Grass and common carp, are. People tell me to toss them but I can't really bring myself to do it. Not until I hear it from DOW like you're saying. Last I heard were some Asians came down a few years back and released these fish in hoping to reproduce so they can come back out and catch more for there restaurant. Not sure if there's any truth to that but I do see Asians harvesting them quite often. As far as those gold fish, I seen DOW netting fish, and they released all that were caught I believe. I might have to figure this out cause now im curious.

They were in there before they drained it, & they are in there now. They are also in Quail & Pikeview. They are not going to go away, & if they somehow managed to eradicate them, some other idiot would put them in again.
right? and man do they produce. i see like 50 of them in a group swimming still in one spot. ive chucked lures through them and on top and nothing spooks them unless theyre hit or snagged...
theyre all the same size too. i never see any little ones. and the bigger ones are carp.
common carp has 2 dorsal fins though right? both of these just had one. and im used to seeing common carp more narrow when it comes to length.. these fish are as tall as they are long ha.. and both fish in those pics share the same scale pattern... who knows. i had someone tell me it was a rudd.. ha
commons have just one dorsal, but it's very long. After thinking about it, it might be a carp/goldfish hybrid. It just doesn't seem like a pure goldfish, but I don't know.
I was actually thinking about that when I landed this one.
But I remember someone telling me that cut bait is better to use fresh and not freezing until your fishing trip. Not sure if that's the truth but I just let him go as well.
These hats? It's no secrete where to find the ones with the bill on the back. LOL you guys are so old. Vinnila Ice( image below)has been wearing them for years and they can be found at the new store down town that sells them, it's called Beverly Hills Pimps & Hos. They have the side model also. Dont let these guys mess with you man, just tell them where to buy them and they will go away.
"Hip hop is universal now, it's all commercial now It's like a circle full of circus clowns up in the circuit now But now the white kids like it, so they tell me I can buy it But as soon as I get on the mic it's like the night gets silent Either that or booed, that's why I keep an attitude And go to sleep with it and wake up with it every afternoon"
lol. and what ya got against kid? if you'd ever see one of his shows you'd be a fan.
"I've been on the cover of the Rolling Stone I met the president when I was half stoned I been so high I've gotten confused I been beat down, broke and used Mother!#*er I drank with hank, talked blues with Billy Rocked with Run sang with shotgun Willy Went from small time philly to big time Bobby From 3 day old chili to saki with wosabi"
oh lol. ya he puts on a good show. wasnt a fan till someone with two tickets gave them to me for free. decided it would be a good reson to get out of the house. i was presently surprised. been a fan ever since!
I might be heading out there after work Friday... Just re-spooled my rods and got some new lures to try for eyes... Maybe get some whacky gold fish... who knows. I have caught a lot of trout here last year, hoping this year is the year of the eye at prospect... catch some nice ones and get them back to catch them again... :)
Whiteboyrick, I have seen some pics of some very respectable eyes you have caught... great job. And you release to keep the lake going, that is great. Especially during now for spawning... Great angling my friend. Good luck hope you get some even bigger ones this year.
kid rock played every instrument on stage and did so better than every one of his band members at the show i saw. he's definitely not a hip hop artist nowadays, but that guys got talent.
as far as rap goes, 99% of rappers couldnt pass a first grade standardized test, but i believe eminem shows how rap can be creative and poetic. harvard professor and poet Seamus Heaney (who also won the nobel peace proze in litterature) agrees and has praised eminem for his lyrical genius. you wont see 50 cent, jay z, or biggie smalls getting the same respect.
Whiteboyrick....thats pretty cool pics you're sharing. Something totally different than the typical : 'look at this trout i caught' post. Yeaahhh....I dig it......that's great man!

FPF......you got my attention with your last reply.
So....you're saying that Eminem got 'praise' from a Harvard professor for his "lyrical genius" ?
Lyrical?.....seriously, lyrical?......."genius"?........Dude.......I guess that I must be so old that you being...what, two generations younger than me, that well.....maybe you are right, I perhaps may be sooo old that I don't appreciate the "newer" generation of music.
So, accordingly....I can assume that you don't appreciate the "older" generation of music?
This is good man.....two different generations commuting together.
So, to summize.....I propose that both of us will agree to disagree with another, and that nothing was accomplished between us....no harm, no foul....
I can accept that....no problem.....it's cool.....
I have to apologize to Whiteboyrick......sorry man.......just realized we 'jacked' your post.......
