Caught a sauger

Post By: solocamzman      Posted: 6/5/2011 11:09:24 AM     Points: 550
I've put in a lot of time fishing Douglas for walleye this year and thought for sure that I would have caught a sauger out of there by now. Finally did a few days ago. West side south of the boat ramp on a perch colored swimbait about an hour before dark.

Thanks for this update. From the looks of it we should have a good year class of fish in 2013/14. The DOW has been working hard to get that population going.

That's pretty cool Josh! I don't think I've ever caught myself a sauger... couple saugeye but no sauger, good job.

Thanks Branch......caught it on that swimbait.. Its a new species for me.

I've been told by several people including one of the boat inspectors that the DOW recently stocked 700,000 saugeye. Anyone know if this is true?

There are no saugeye in Douglas, only sauger and walleye.
